this is the graduation room for the graduate school at the university of leiden, in the Netherlands. it is just a small room right next to the chamber where one defends one's dissertation, students who just defended sit here and await judgment. the room itself contains just a chair and a table, but it is covered with the signatures of those who successfully passed the test. the sign above the room is latin for "abandon hope all ye who enter".
