Welcome to
The Herbalist

The cultivation, study, and use of herbs have a special meaning for those who follow Nature based religions, and perhaps surprisingly, to many other paths as well. Spin a globe and put your finger down wherever it may stop! You only need to look very briefly into the cuisine, medicine, indigenous religion and folklore of the people of that place to see that herbalism is both universal and critical to the survival of our species.

Archaeologists working in places as widely separated as Egypt and Polynesia have discovered (to their apparent amazement) that Ancient people not only knew of herbs which grow only in lands often thousands of miles and often continents away, but they valued some of these so highly that they constituted the single most important category of trade goods in what must have been incredibly long and difficult voyages. To that extent, it is possible to theorize that the desire for HERBS may have been a driving factor in the very earliest journeys of discovery.
