I am an avid sailor, racer, and boater. Previous to moving to Washington, I was member of the Austin Yacht Club and an active racer. I was fordecker and trimmer on Wasabi an 11:metre one design. I've also raced on J24's a couple of times and on one of my boats a Ranger 23 named "Pain Killer".
I am also an avid wood worker. I have a pretty complete shop in a separate 550 square foot steel building. This was an unexpected bonus that came with the house we purchased on the south end of the Sammamish plateau. I enjoy building and finishing fine furniture -- although just dorking around in the shop is fun (not to mention buying tools....).
Checkout this cherry coffee table. The coffee table has a Jatoba base with a Danish oil finish. The top is cherry, finished in dewaxed orange shellac with a hand buffed lacquer top coat.
My TV Armoire is done in a semi-mission style. Its made of Ochobe trimmed in Ash with a solid Ash top. It has a Danish oil finish (Watco) covered with three coats of burnished 1/2 lb cut orange shellac finished off in three coats of carnuba wax. I have also completed a couple of small child sized cherry tables. They turned out beautifully. I finished them with 4 coats of orange shellac with two thin coats of a hand buffed satin poly.
On the professional front, I am a principle development manager in the client performance team in Microsoft's Windows Core Operating System Division. For more information, please see my resume.
