| Hi Gentle Reader, I started this set of links out of frustration: most sets of woodworking links, while useful, are out of date, have many broken links, are unorganized, and lack site descriptions. This set of links is my solution to these problems. My goal is keep a well maintained and annotated list of woodworking related links -- this means: a list that is well categorized; succinct annotations for each link; where new and updated information is easy to find; where broken links are obvious and purged after a reasonable time; where navigation is intuitive; and where pages load fast. I've created this list to help woodworkers, particularly members of the Professional Refinisher Email Group. These links are maintained by category. I've provided descriptions where appropriate and add check mark icons for sites that I particularly like. I hope you find this set of links interesting and helpful. If you would like me to add a link, modify a description, or make a suggestion please email me here The first two versions of this list were maintained by hand. V1.0 was a single page with separate categories. The single page became difficult to maintain as the number of links grew. So I split the major categories into separate pages. This is V3.0 of my site and is no longer maintained by hand. All the site and article links are stored in an XML database as are the HTML page templates. A program generates all these pages automaticaly from the XML database. Broken links are also detected and marked automatically. I wrote the page generation software in C++ (with Microsoft Visual Studio V6.0/SP3) using the Xerces XML parser from the Apache project. It all runs under Microsoft Windows. My next major task is to automatically upload updated pages to my web site. Best Regards

I would love it if every site was great - but they aren't. I don't believe any sites I've linked to are really awful but some are klunky, clumsy, difficult to navigate, hard to read, have a poorl color scheme (which makes them hard to read), don't provide good info, are too cluttered, etc. etc. So, if you think your site deserves a
Please remember this is my site. I don't get any money for this. I've developed simply to help people - especially members of the Professional Refinisher Email Group. |
