June 06 Line Contest: Main

June06 Line- Following Contest

Apologies: this contest has been postponed until further notice.

At the TexLUG Austin meeting on June 11, 2006, we will be hosting a robotic line-following contest.

There will be two age groups for the competition: under 13 years old, and 13 and older.

You may find the rule set here. You can also download and print a PDF version (80 kbytes).

To enter, just bring your 'bot to the June 11 TexLUG Austin meeting. Directions to the meeting are included with the rule set.

Subscribe to the TexLUG Austin email list to stay informed on the latest contest news and rules updates.

Here are some great links on line-following robots:

Steve Hassenplug's line follower page is in progress, but has a great selection of links to visit.

David Cook's Jet robot follows a line at over 1 meter (!) per second.

At this page, Wright Hobbies describes a number of algorithms for line followers. (Keep in mind our contest rules limiting the robot to the sensors included in one RIS kit, plus two other sensors.)

Mike Davey describes his advanced line following robot here.
