What's New...It's been a long time!!!

11/9/03: I haven't been around much lately. There have been many things happening to keep us busy.

Just last Saturday, our apartment's electricity went on the fritz. We had some power but not all. Turning on the dryer turned off the television, no air, hot water nor major appliances all weekend. It was frustrating but by Monday night, everything was back on again. Of course, since the air had been off so long that it was still about 100 degrees farenheit in our apartment when we arrived home at about 8:00 pm. But it cooled off overnight and has been working fine ever since.

This week brought around a cold front which means that it is pretty cool out there compared to last weekend. It's only hitting 50 degrees or so most days now. What a difference!

I mentioned in my last post that Great Big Sea was coming to Austin. Unfortunately, we were not able to make the show but I am sure it was great, as usual.

Our 6-year wedding anniversary is coming up on the 22nd of November. It's still going great! John is the best husband in the whole world. I am so luck! :)

Well, I promise to start working behind the scenes again over the next couple of weeks. I have had a couple of requests to add links so I may be adding new things. Keep checking back!

What's New...Great Big Sea coming to Austin again!!!!

8/31/03: Great Big Sea is coming to Austin again. We saw them twice last year. They will be here on September 13th at Stubbs BBQ with Cowboy Mouth. If you get the chance, you should go see them.

Also, I have added some new photos from our trip to Newfoundland in April of 2003. Upon rechecking my links, I found another couple of problem ones. I think they should all be working now. Let me know if you find any that are not.

Well, I will be back soon! Take care everyone!

What's New...tons of stuff!!!!

8/17/03: Well, our friend Tim is currently visiting from Virigina. We spent yesterday at Zilker Park with Tim. His brother Jerry and family dropped by for the day so we all went for a ride on the Zilker Zephyr (20 minute train ride that should not be missed) and showed them around the park.

Anyone who has visited here before has heard me talk about our neice and nephews all the time. Well, there is another on the way. Joshua will be a big brother early next spring. :)

We saw Whale Rider last weekend. Wow, what an intense film. The film was set in New Zealand and had an amazing cast. Keisha Castle-Hughes played the main character and this was her first film. This 13 year old was incredible in her first film ever. This movie is worth seeing.

I have been checking links behind the scenes. I found several broken links that have been removed or corrected. Please let me know if you find any that don't work properly. And as always, please let me know if you know of any links that I should add!

Well, I will be back soon! Take care everyone!

What's New...Newfoundland photos!!!!

6/28/03: Well, we have been back from Newfoundland over 2 months now and I actually have my photos developed and some scanned to share with you all. Check out my pictures page. I have plenty more where those came from but you will need to keep coming back to see :)

John and I saw The Hulk last weekend. I was pleasantly surprised. I don't know what I expected but it was a good movie. It kept me caught up in the characters. And Nick Nolte...wow, he played an amazing character. Anyhow, you might want to check it out.

Have you purchased the latest Harry Potter - The Order of the Phoenix yet? We haven't but I want to. I have seen in at least 3 bookstores since it came out and I am very tempted. However, there are a few places that have it for really good rates, like 40% off. We are waiting until they get more books :)

Well, there isn't much in the way of news so take care everyone! I will be back soon!

What's New...enjoying "spring" weather!!!!

5/25/03: Wow, a whole month has passed since we returned from our trip to Newfoundland. We have been enjoying Austin's events as "spring" weather hits. I always have to qualify spring weather here. For those of you from back home in Newfoundland, that's the way warm weather that would be too hot for you guys in the summer since most people I know do not have air conditioning. For anyone nearby in Texas and many of the States, that's the warm weather before it gets toooooo hot in the summer! It's a perspective thing.

Back to the Austin events: we have been to Zilker Park to see Fame; we have been to 6th Street for the Old Pecan Street Arts Festival; and we have been to the Paramount Theatre to see the Big Sleep starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, during the opening weekend of the 2003 Summer Film Classics. This doesn't even include the Half Price Books annual Tent Sale, regular browsing of our favourite places in Austin, or playing ski-ball at the local Peter Piper Pizza (we are still kids). We have been having a ton of fun. So come to Austin, there's always something happening here!!!

I have updated the photos page with some new photos. They are not, however, from our recent trip as those 7 rolls are still not developed. These are "new to you" photos that we recently got developed from the past 2 years. Why am I always so far behind getting film developed? Maybe we need to go digital? John loves that idea!

Take care everyone! I will be back soon!

What's New...nice trip!!!!

4/25/03: Well, John and I had a nice trip back to Newfoundland. It was cold and it snowed soon after we arrived, but we had a great time anyhow. We explored the downtown area a couple of times (especially used bookstores like Wordplay), hiked through the snow in Bowring Park, and visited with many friends and family. Unfortunately, time never allows for a visit to everyone at a convenient time so we missed a few people. Maybe we will see you guys next time.

Anyone who follows along will know that John and I hadn't met our newphew, Joshua, before. He is such a cute kid. He doesn't speak much yet but he now knows how to say our names. We also got to see Matthew and Jessica. They read almost as much as we do so of course, we went to visit the Chapters bookstore with them. My parents have their house up for sale so it was interesting how often plans changed to accomodate people coming to look at the house. But all in all, it was still a fun trip.

We have taken tons of photos but we still need to get those developed. I will put up some new photos as soon as possible.

Take care everyone! I will be back soon!

What's New...Warmer weather, but not for long!!!!

4/6/03: Well, the weather in Austin is warmer finally. However, for us, it won't be warm for long. We leave for Newfoundland this coming Friday. They were having snow this morning when I spoke to my parents. Ugh! Don't get me wrong, I miss seeing snow sometimes. But I don't miss having to shovel the stuff. I am sure it will be okay for a short visit!

During the past month, I was checking links and fixing up some of the problem links. I think everything is working now but don't hesitate to let me know if you find any broken links.

I will be bringing my camera to Newfoundland on our trip so I plan on getting some new photos here soon!

Take care everyone! I will be back after our trip!

What's New...Going Home!

3/2/03: I have known for quite some time now that John and I are making a trip home to Newfoundland. It never occurred to me that I hadn't shared that with you until this morning. It's March already and we will be leaving in early April. It will be over 3 years since our last trip so we are looking forward to the trip a lot. We have never met Joshua, our nephew, who is not quite 2 yet. It will be strange that we won't get to see my sister, Kim, as she is going to school in Toronto. We may get a short visit during a layover there on our way to or from Newfoundland, however. Also, we won't get to visit my friend, Cindy, as she now lives in Labrador City. Cin, we miss you!

While I am home, I am hoping to get plenty of Newfoundland scenery photos. You know the type you would never think to take when you live somewhere for 30 years and never expect not to see those things every day!

Take care everyone! I will be back soon!

What's New...Ice Storm!

2/26/03: Yes, you heard me! Ice in Austin. It started freezing on Monday afternoon and by Tuesday morning, Austin had become a Jack Frost paradise. The roads were awful and the sidewalks even worse! It stayed below freezing all day to make matters worse. By this morning, with additional freezing drizzle, they are still telling people not to drive unless it's an emergency. However, it should warm up to the 50's today so it will probably be gone by this evening.

I have borrowed a photo to show what Austin looked like during all of this. Check out my photo page!

What's New...Behind the scenes!

2/23/03: John hasn't been feeling too well over the past couple of days. We did spend a nice day yesterday doing a little shopping and going to a movie. We saw Catch me if you Can yesterday, starring Leonardo DeCaprio and Tom Hanks. It was based on a book that John had read a long time ago. We both enjoyed it a lot.

I am amazed at myself. I am actually doing another update already. First, almost two months passed, but now only a week! :) I am getting better!

As I mentioned last week, I planned on doing some behind the scenes link checks and changes. I found some dead link or misdirected links so I have fixed some. I haven't gotten through all my pages yet so please feel free to email any problems you find.

I have finally scanned some new photos and they are now up on my pictures page! If any of you have been here before, you will probably notice a big difference in my niece and nephews, especially little Joshua who is getting so big!!!

That's about it for today. Take care everyone!

What's New...Busy times!

2/17/03: Happy 2003 everyone. It's a little late but better late than never, right?!? Things have been busy. We are not home much. When we are home, John and I have been watching movies, playing new computer games and just enjoying one another. Therefore, updates have been slow in coming.

I have received some email with suggestions for new links. I am currently going through my links to check for dead ones. If you find any, please let me know. I will be adding some of the new ideas soon. They are great links so thanks and keep them coming.

We saw the new Daredevil movie this past weekend. It was a good movie and I never ever read the comics. I liked Ben Afflick as Daredevil, Collin Farrell as Bullseye, and Jennifer Garner was simply amazing as Elektra. We also purchased the My Big Fat Greek Wedding DVD. If you haven't seen this movie, you should. It's so fun!

Well, there isn't much news so I better be off. I will be back soon! Take care everyone!
