Doug Talk:
Austin, Texas, do we love this dude or what!!
<mumble mumble> greatest! I'm telling you man, I've got to say
it. And tomorrow's my birthday and tomorrow this year will be thirty
years this man's been a beautiful friend of mine and I love him. I wish
everybody in the world could know him like I do. I love this dude. Thank
you, Austin, Texas! Thank you Bob Dylan!! (after Just Like Tom Thumb's
Blues).
"A small footnote for us Dylan fans...when Bob played Austin in 94
or 95 (help me here?) he invited Doug on stage to do "Tom Thumb
Blues" with him and Doug was his wonderful self when his chance
for a verse came he took an extra verse from Bob telling him how
much Austin loved him (and we do!)"

Thanks everybody!Ý Nice to be up here in
Texas. Last time here nobody knew me as a honorary Texan. For sure. Anyway,
anybody here know about Townes van Zandt? This one here
is one of his best songs he taught me.
Let me see if we can do it the way he taught me.
Thanks everybody! All right!! A music journalist
was asking me just before the show, he was saying "what...", ... he was
telling me that, he was telling me, he doesn't play music, but
he would like to, he says: a great performer
never repeats himself, very important not to repeat yourself ... everyday
... It's a hard thing not to do though. (before I'll Be Your Baby
Tonight).
Thank you everybody! That's my confessional song for the evening! (after 20/20 Vision).

I wanna sing one song here recognising that there are Goliath's nowadays. An err people don't realise just who the Goliath's are but in older daysGoliath was slayed and everybody looks back nowadays and sees how Goliath was. Nowadays there are crueler Goliath's who do crueler cruelerthings but one day they gonna be slain too, An people 2,000 years from now can look back an say remember when Goliath the second was slain.(before When The Ship Comes In).
Here's a song I wrote its about a friend
of mine an it's called Percys Song. An I took the tune from a song that
a folk singer by the name of PaulClayton sings. Called the Wind And The
Rain.

Greetings folks,
While surfing the internet, I came across your Bob Dylan setlist archive
posted on your
website and wanted to pass along a small piece of information. ?The
last entry on your list says:
"Unidentified Venue
Austin, Texas
28 January 1976"
I was fortunate enough to have been at that Joni Mitchell show and the
venue was, in fact, Palmer Auditorium, though I think at the time it
was more commonly being called Austin Municipal Auditorium. It was
an
amazing surprise when Bob just wandered out unannounced. I'm pretty
sure Joni didn't
say a word, before or after. He just came out and sat down beside her,
they dueted on a
couple of songs, and then he split. This was way back before the days
of the
"Never-ending tour" when he's been out everywhere for years now. Back
then Bob
sightings were pretty scarce so it pretty much blew everyone's mind.
We were all asking
ourselves "Was that really him? Did that really just happen?" Anyway,
just thought I'd
let you know where it actually was, for whatever it's worth.
Rock on,
Mark

Hey Mark,
What a great e-mail to receive from you today. This historic venue is the same auditorium where Dylan rehearsed and played his first show with The Band in September of 1965. It is currently completely gutted and scheduled for a complete renovation as the "Long Center for the Performing Arts."
I know of Elvis appearing there in the early 70s and I saw shows there
by Neil Young and
Talking Heads in the 80s. It was also the site of JFK's banquet
that was completely set
up but never happened on the evening of his assassination in '63.
A musician friend of
mine is on an advisory committee for the new facility and he plans
to encourage the
inclusion of a small museum to recognize these and other historic events
on the site.
You may be interested in a Bob Dylan conference being planned at University
of Texas
next Spring. You can check back on my site for updates as it
materializes.

Released in 1967. I don't see it listed on your Dylan page.....
Was almost the last Dylan album I bought and the last
I really liked....had 'em all to that point in time.
Still do, back home in FLA.
Nashville Skyline did not appeal to me. I lived in
rural FLA. at that time and had to put up with Red
Necks who listened only to country western music.
I would escape to the Tampa "beat' scene in Sulphur
Spring and hang out around the U.S.F. WUSF-FM played
albums in those days, so I knew what I was spending my
hard earned cash on!!
Song also brings back memories of a love triangle, I
was into with a high school buddy...kept the buddy,
but the "Lady" took a walk on us....a good thing. Was
saved by my onetime H.S. English teacher ( she was 31,
I was 19, after graduation) who was a Tampa FLA
girlfriend of Jack Keroauc's untill he passed
on....woman taught me a lot, in more ways than one!
Then a couple fleeing the Haight Ashbury meltdown
moved in behind us and my head got turned around a
bunch more! Folks right off The Bus...but they were
"ON" the bus....
