Exhibit Design:So Many Moving Parts -- WORKSHOP HAS BEEN FILLED

Exhibit Design: So Many Moving Parts

Monday, October 22, 9:00 a.m.. - 4:00 p.m.
The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum
1800 North Congress Avenue, Austin
Limited to 40 participants

There are many moving parts to creating a winning exhibition. Those who have worked on museum exhibitions recognize how much must be designed, organized, built and installed before you reach a successful opening day. Each unique element of an exhibit must be considered on its own and in relation to the whole. This workshop will consider some of the most significant components of the fascinating process called exhibit design.

Panelists will address the essentials of color theory, artifact layout, design and lighting principles, artifact mountmaking, display case fabrication and exhibition graphics. Each panelist in the workshop will conduct a lecture as well as a “hands-on” practicum. The two “hands-on” segments of the workshop will provide opportunities to experiment with provided materials, to raise issues of specific concern, and create a larger group discussion.

With a combined experience of almost eighty years, this panel of experts will guide you through some of the critical moments of successful exhibition design.

Lunch on your own in the café. You are also welcome to bring a sack lunch.

Speakers:

Pony Allen, Head of Exhibits, The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Austin

Toni Beldock, Exhibit Production Coordinator, The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Austin

Suzanne McGarraugh, Exhibit Design Specialist, San Antonio
