EKLUND NAMED CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER AT THE AMON CARTER MUSEUM
Amon Carter Museum Director Ron Tyler announced recently that Lori
Eklund has been named chief operations officer of the museum.
Since October 2004, Eklund has been director of the Outreach Division,
overseeing its education, development, publications and public relations
departments. In her new position, she also assumes responsibility
over visitor services, special events, facilities, information technology,
sales operations and security.

DIXIE HOOVER IS NEW SITE MANAGER FOR THE CONFEDERATE
REUNION GROUNDS
Dixie Hoover has accepted a position with the Texas
Historical Commission as Site Manager for the Confederate Reunion
Grounds near Mexia. Previously Hoover was History Center Supervisor
at the Rupert N. Richardson Research Center, Hardin-Simmons University,
Abilene.

ON TEXAS EXPAT: ARIZONA MUSEUM FOR YOUTH HIRES EDUCATION CURATOR
The Arizona Museum for Youth is proud to announce that Laura
Matzer is the facility’s new Education Curator. For
the past five years Laura was the Art Collection Curator and Program
Manager for the Microsoft Art Collection. Prior to working with
Microsoft she served as an art museum educator at the Amon Carter
Museum in Fort Worth, TX, the El Paso Museum of Art in El Paso,
TX, the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, TX, and the Blaffer Gallery,
The Art Museum at the University of Houston, Houston, TX. Click

DIRECTOR NAMED TO LEAD THE BOB BULLOCK TEXAS STATE HISTORY MUSEUM
The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum is pleased to announce
that Nashid Madyun has accepted the position as
Museum Director. Mr. Madyun comes to the Museum from the Gibson
Retail Group in Memphis, Tennessee, a division of Gibson Musical
Instruments, where he was the President/General Manager. Previously,
he served as the Executive Director of the Stax Museum of American
Soul Music, also in Memphis.

GRACE MUSEUM WELCOMES NEW STAFF MEMBER
The Grace Museum is pleased to announce the addition of Jana
Bailey to their staff. Bailey, who has held two other positions
with The Grace – Tot Spot teacher, and Grace Academy teacher
– was selected after an extensive search process.

GRACE MUSEUM DIRECTOR TO LEAVE IN JUNE
The Board Chair of The Grace Museum announced recently that Dennis
Kois, Director since 2006, will be leaving the Museum in
June. Kois, who came to the Grace from the Smithsonian, informed
the Board that he has accepted the Directorship of the DeCordova
Museum and Sculpture Park outside of Boston, Massachusetts.

KATHERINE PARK RECEIVES AAM EMERGING MUSEUM
PROFESSIONAL FELLOWSHIP
Katherine Park, Membership Manager at the Museum
of Nature and Science in Dallas, was a recipient of AAM’s
Emerging Museum Professional Fellowship. The fellowship will pay
for her to attend AAM’s annual meeting in Denver.

SCIENCE PLACE NAMES DIRECTOR
Discovery Science Place in Tyler has named Michael Shanklin
as its new executive director. Shanklin took over as the children's
museum leader on April 1. He was previously a director at the Discovery
Gateway museum in Salt Lake City.

TERRIE SULTAN APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF THE PARRISH
ART MUSEUM
The Parrish Art Museum, the century-old institution in Southampton,
NY that serves and reflects one of American art's most distinguished
communities, has announced the appointment of Terrie Sultan
as Director. Ms. Sultan becomes Director as the Parrish prepares
to open a major new museum designed by the internationally renowned
architecture firm of Herzog & de Meuron. Ms. Sultan most recently
served as Director of the Blaffer Gallery, the Art Museum of the
University of Houston.

| HCCC WELCOMES NEW STAFF
The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) is pleased to announce
the addition of two key staff members: Gwynne Rukenbrod,
Curator of Fine Craft, and Sarah House, Education
Director. Rukenbrod most recently served as Executive Director of
the International Society of Glass Beadmakers in Columbus, Ohio,
and as the Art Curator of The Works at the Ohio Center for History,
Art and Technology. Prior to joining HCCC, House spent six years
working in the education department of the Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston. During her tenure, she served as Public Programs Coordinator,
Community Programs Coordinator and, finally, Senior Coordinator
of Community and Family Programs.
