DISASTER RECOVERY
There three phases of Disaster Recovery 1) The Response
Phase; 2) The Salvage Phase; 3) The
Rehabilitation Phase.
The Response Phase
1. Assess the situation |
2. Notify and assemble the necessary personnel |
3. Establish a "command post" |
4. Procure and assemble the necessary supplies and personnel |
5. Establish security measures |
6. Get clearance to enter the building |
7. Eliminate hazards |
8. Stablize the environment |
9. Make a detailed assessment of the damage |
10. Develop a detailed plan of action |
11. Brief all assembled personnel |

The Salvage Phase
1. Pack and remove affected materials |
2. Stablize materials |
3. Dry materials:
A. Air-drying
B. Freeze-drying
C. Dehumidification
D. Vacuum (thermal) drying or vacuum freeze-drying

The Rehabilitation Phase
1. Perform rehabilitation as needed, through activities such
as:
- smokeremoval and deodorization
- fumigation
- reprocessing and copying photographic media
- cleaning, rehousing, and copying magnetic media
- cleaning or phonodiscs

2. Rehabilitage paper-based materials through activities such
as:
- rehousing
- cleaning
- repair and/or rebinding
- relabelling, plating, marking

3. Reshelve/refile materials |
