This appendix includes sample human resource forms and a list of sites where one can send position vacancy notices. Again, this information should be tailored to each institution's needs. If an institution does not have the budget to place classified ads in the recommended locations, then mailing out a press release listing the job's requirements and salary may suffice. Comprehensive lists of sites are available from the Texas State Treasury as well as city human resource departments. For more information, contact the Texas Association of Museums' offices.

Local resources include:

  • community groups*
  • colleges and universities at appropriate academic departments, minority affairs office, and career placement office
  • county or city human resource departments

The following forms are useful for a multitude of reasons. The simple layouts allow for quick and easy tracking of all applicants from initial submission of application through the actual hiring. They provide an easily accessible history of hiring practices for an institution or a department. When kept for a period of time, these forms also begin to show a picture of the type of candidates that an institution routinely draws. This picture may be useful in determining the efficacy of current recruiting methods. These sample forms can be altered to fit any institution's needs.

    Form A covers recruitment procedures.

Form B tracks all applicants who have applied for the position.

Form C ranks candidates who have been invited to interview.
