Eventually this will be updated this Fall...maybe
A web publication of rants and whines, pointing out the stupid people and
stupid things present in Contra Costa County. The publication is sprinkled
liberally with bias.
Reporters are taught to check their sources. They're told to even
double check them, right? Here's a little doozy about a student journalist
at a college newspaper who didn't bother to check her sources, but rather
took the word of an unknown person on the Internet, at face value.
She's in good company though, because after the Flight 800 explosion,
veteran reporter Piere Sallinger also took Internet provided information
with more credit than it deserved... and yet even more recently, CNN allowed
an alleged witness to pull a Howard Stern "Baaba Booey" on
the air in what they had thought was up to the moment of outburst, a bonifide
witness. In the rush to get the story, much goes unchecked.
"Everyone knows that someone's got to be playing games
and getting them into
the hands of all the youngsters. If someone ignores their existence,
then you are only
opening yourself up to believing anything someone tries passing
off to you."
--Walter (TINW)
Get it while it's hot, and before it's outlawed
The following two entries are here as a protest of the government
attempting to outlaw information. It involves more than the making
of certain information illegal though. The whole idea that someone
using a cellular phone IN THE CLEAR has a reasonable expectation of privacy
is ASSININE. Grt out of you dream world. You are broadcasting
your telephone call over radio waves. The responsibility to keep
you call private morally falls upon YOU. Certainly you wouldn't walk
into a packed cafeteria and start loudly discussing private topics and
expect that others won't overhear your... and you would be stupid
if you would think that you caould get away with passing a law that others
can't listen to the conversation you hold in public... although seeing
some of the wacko laws passed... I wouldn't be all too surprised.
A HOW-TO picture book account of how to modify a Radio Shack Pro-2004 police
scanner to receive the frequencies where cellular communications are transmitted.

A short and rather brief history of the long gone Sieben's Brewery of Chicago.
It wasn't the Chicago Mob which killed off the brewery, but rather the
proliferation of mass produced beers in the 1970's. A recent attempt
to bring back the name of the famous Chicago brewery failed due to poor
management.

Have you ever heard the audio excerpts of Casey Kasam going postal?
The group Negativland, a reference to Contra Costa County, placed samples
of that incident on their The Letter U and The Numeral
2 album. The Snuggles
cut was not what caused them the most problems however. Their big
problem was instead with the lawyers at the label for the band U2.
This is a fun site to visit. You can hear the Snuggles cut here (in
MP3 or RealAudio), and you can read about the latest attempt at censorship
now that NegativLand and their label Seeland Records are embroiled in a
whole new battle, this time with the RIAA which has resulted in delaying
their next CD release.
There are many who probably feel that this woman *should* be censored,
but it is probably better for all if folks just exercise their own Free
Speech rights to counteract hers. This parody page does just that
to the CarpWeasel [1] of KFI Radio.
[1] - "CarpWeasel" is a term used in the Sept '98 Vanity Fair article
about this woman.
Also check out the Tom Leykis
web site for what he has to say about this woman.
This guy is the ultimate in PARODY. It originates from KFI
640 in L.A., but unlike Dr. Laura (and very unfortunate) he is not
sydnicated. This is NOT what you would call your normal "Talk Radio
Show"... although tell that to some of the callers who take themselves
a bit too seriously... and then get pissed when they find out that they've
been had. Whether you are liberal or conservative, if you are sick
of "talk radio", then you have to give Phil's show a listen. Phil's
show is on AM 640 from 7pm until 11 pm every weeknight. Folks who
live West of the Rockies should be able to receive KFI's signal after the
sun goes down and the skip signal rolls in. For those not that fortunate,
KFI can be
found on the Internet with RealAudio.

It appears that everyone who's anyone want's their own webcam.
Here is one site, when faced with budget constraints, still managed to
get their own up. There is also a section desribing how you too can
get yours up.
Or should it be called "Here's my vacation photos." Isn't
this what it's really all about. You go over to a neighbor's and
they pull out their photo album and you sit through hours of staring at
photos of their vacation history. This one features multiple trips
to Disneyland, as well as multiple camping trips to the same two old places.
[is that the Tweek I see in some of those?]
Folks on a tight budget living in this negativland known as Contra
Costa County, might do well to click on this link and check out the films
running in the Forum at Diablo Valley College. Looks like some real
winners coming up next month.
Why not... since we're talking cheap right
now, how about a web site with links to all sorts of freebies.
Can't afford the latest and greatest Internet capable computer?
Do you have an old Commodore 64 just collecting dust in one of those closets?
This site actually has a Lunix of operating system for the C= 64
which even contains TCP/IP protocols. This might actually be a later
version of the OS which B1FF used to use.
Of course, getting a modem faster than 1200 baud to work with that
Commodore 64 might be a bit of a pain. Maybe Joe or Julie at Mommadillo's
Modem Maids can help. [Joe will probably be very pissed at me for
even suggesting this ;-)]

For now at least... Updated when something comes along.
