This is me, Paul Velte.
I am a lawyer with my own small civil and criminal trial practice in Austin, Texas.
I am active in political/community type things. An example of my activism is an organization I founded in 1994 regarding your gun rights, which you are rapidly losing. I also advocate the legalization of drugs, especially hemp, for which there is absolutely no excuse for keeping it illegal. If you have an open mind, and want to learn some truthful factual information about marijuana, then follow this stink, er link. For more about me, go here.
I would like to share with you a growing genre of music known as "Mods." These are musical files (ending in .mod .s3m, .mtm, .669) made by people on their own PC's all over the globe, and some are really good. Don't confuse them with midi files or wavs; mods are very different. Playing them requires a soundcard and the necessary software. If you want to check out what I'm talking about, download this sample mod (57K) and this mod file player (351K) that works under Windows. Install it, find some mods, and you will hear what I am talking about! Here are some ftp sites I found for getting mods: Site 1 and Site 2. Oh what the hell, here's another mod (49K) that I know will run on this player. Ask if you want more!
I am into computer games like Doom, Quake, War Craft, Star Craft, Tex Murphy, and any damn mystery/adventure game that is hard to figure out. In fact, I'm sorta addicted. Doom and Quake are like being there in 3-D, walking around with a gun in your hands. It allows you to match your wits against real opponents in the ephemeral world of cyberspace. This is the way to be violent! Unfortunately Doom does not play well over the internet, although as of 1999, I still see people trying. In my opinion you can't play Doom with more than 2 people on the internet and have any fun, but I doubt anyone is trying as of 2002. Places like Dwango were much better because you dial up direct to the game server, but dwango is out of business, or, if you followed that link, you see that its name was bought out by some Japanese company. In any event, it is now clear that TCP/IP network games are the way of the future. Virtually any game since 1998 will play well over the internet. If you're trying to play a game like Warcraft or any other older DOS based multi-player game, Kali is a program that supports on the net any game that plays over an IPX network (most older DOS games do). If you're ever gaming on the net, look for my gaming handle, "Rebel Yell," and say hi.
Ever found yourself wanting to play an old DOS game like Wing Commander, Privateer, Mean Streets, or similar, and found that you can't because they play too fast on new computers? If you you're willing to drop a few bucks to make 'em run, then check out Mo' Slow, a program that slows them down so you can actually play those (now) antique, but classic games, from the nascent days when the real potential of personal computers was just being explored.
