Gainesville, Florida, December 9, 1995

How many officers can you count in this picture? Be sure to pan to the right if the whole image doesn't appear on your screen:

Yes sir, what you see above is an example of the same phenomenon; how the loss of one freedom leads to the loss of another; in this case, the loss of the right to possess a plant has lead to the loss of the right to peaceable assembly. Wouldn't you be just a tad bit intimidated by the police presence at this rally?

These scenes are from a pro-legalization rally held in Gainesville, Florida, Dec. 9, 1995. This sort of expenditure of police resources harassing political activity is as Unamerican as the German Gestapo. Speaking of the Gestapo, check out the following picture of Gainesville's police chief, Wayland Clifton, the man responsible for the oppression of the people at this rally:

The following is a shot of a blind woman, Elvy Musikka, who was arrested and charged for possession of marijuana. She suffers from glaucoma. She is one of only about a dozen americans that can legally possess pot, because she got a prescription through the federal government some years ago (before the Bush Administration terminated the medical marijuana program). The officers knew this of course, as the rally organizers told them she'd be smoking her pot at the rally. The man yelling at the officers is a New Orleans lawyer. He's telling the cops she's got a prescription. He shut up when they threatend to arrest him for "obstructing" them. Apparently, the law matters little to agents of the gestapo.

Okay, enough of that. Let's see the action on the stage! Opps, our view is blocked by those officers standing there keeping us safe from the speaker! Or are they protecting the speaker from us? Oh, they must be just free security guards provided by the taxpayers of Gainesville! Thank you, citizens of Gainesville!
