"Rattlin'" Bill Longley was least tolerant of insults from Black men. When word got back to him that the Blacks in Lexington were celebrating "that white boy's" flight back to Evergreen, the outlaw rode back to Lexington, where the party was in full swing. He galloped into the crowd. After killing two and wounding six, Longley rode home.
