A
"stompede" near Kerrville. Thunder and lightning often
caused herds to run. Cowboys often spent days rounding up the
herd after a stampede. Cowboys would ride their horses infront of
the herd in an attempt to turn the head cattle and force them to
run in a circle until they tired and came to a stop. They might
run for hours. From Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper,
May 28, 1881.
