A recent survey conducted by 451 Research concluded that, in addition to their capacity and service requirements, customers want to “make informed, prioritized choices around the latest technologies to provide visibility, transparency, redundancy, flexibility and cost reduction.”1
Gartner concurred, saying: “Buyers of colocation services are now commonly interested in far more than simply leasing space. In addition to traditional facility differentiators (e.g., power density and resilience), other services…play a more strategic role in global infrastructure delivery and network design.”
Gartner goes on to make several recommendations when evaluating a potential colocation provider, including clarifying what DCIM capabilities the provider is able to extend to you and the level of technical support and professional services you can expect from your provider.
