IO CEO & Product Architect George Slessman on How the Data Center is Like an Airport

On September 18 in Singapore, IO formally announced a strategic partnership with StarHub, Singapore’s fully integrated info-communications provider. After the announcement, IO CEO and Product Architect George Slessman sat down with IO.TV to talk about the partners’ vision for digital connectivity in Asia Pacific.
“It’s about connecting the local and the global. StarHub brings smart connectivity to our smart data center. Think of this as an airport, where local people transit out to the world and the world transits in to the location. The smarter your airport, the more capable it is. So the connectivity of the software-defined infrastructure at the IO data center layer with the software-defined networking infrastructure that StarHub is building is going to allow us to deliver against a vision that I don’t think anyone else in the region will be able to deliver.”

Mr Tan Tong Hai, CEO of StarHub, explained his perspective on the partnership: “Companies today require a non-traditional data centre solution that is able to easily scale, to rapidly support their business growth. StarHub is pleased to partner with IO to deliver a state-of-the-art, software-defined data centre solution that is highly scalable and secure, and can be deployed just-in-time to help our clients to reduce costs and operate more efficiently.”
