Environmental Quality Award Presented to IO for Outstanding Work in Preserving Quality of the Environment in New Jersey
Phoenix, Ariz. – October 15, 2015 – IO, a leading global provider of data center services, today announced it received the Environmental Quality Award from the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA). In conferring the recognition as part of the association’s annual Awards for Excellence, NJBIA noted IO “has set an example for other data centers that want to cut their energy usage.”
IO New Jersey, located in Edison, is one of the largest multi-tenant data centers on the east coast. IO provides customers with high-performance, cost-effective colocation services, without them having to invest resources in building and maintaining their own data centers.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from the NJBIA for leadership in adopting sustainable data center practices,” said Rick Crutchley, senior vice president and managing director, North America at IO. “We have long believed what is good for the environment can also make good business sense. Sustainability is an important pillar of our strategy and that is reflected in making IO New Jersey one of the most energy- and cost-efficient data centers available.”
In announcing the award, NJBIA noted, “IO uses advanced modular technology to increase the efficiency of its systems. The company has consolidated modules to increase the effectiveness of the energy they use. To make cooling the servers more efficient, it has invested in improving airflow, sealing off walls, floors and doors, and installing overhead and underfloor cooling systems.”
NJBIA Award for Excellence winners are selected by an independent panel of judges. This year’s judging panel was comprised of NJBIA Committee and Board members as well as representatives from SCORE.
