~ IO Phoenix Campus Growth Reflects Strong Customer Demand for IO Data Center Services ~
Phoenix, Ariz. – February 19, 2016 – IO, a leading global provider of Data Center Services, just announced plans for a major expansion of its Phoenix data center campus. IO will build a massive, three-story data center to support its colocation hosting services and cloud services.
This comes as 94% of all UK businesses claim to be investing in initiatives to prepare for the IoT, spreading those investments across infrastructure, security, R&D, skills and personnel – at a substantial rate.
IO purchased approximately nine acres of land to the south of their current IO.Phoenix data center in February 2016. This new development will be Phase 3 of the current IO.Phoenix Data Center campus. The new data center will have over 100 MVA in total capacity. IO plans to break ground on the new building in late 2016 and open in 2017, expanding one module at a time, one phase at a time.
“Our Phoenix data center campus is an incredible success story – driving us to expand at a huge scale to keep pace with customer demand,” said Tony Wanger, IO president. “We build and operate the most highly efficient, sustainable data centers for the most demanding customers around the world. Our newest data center will set the standard for state-of-the-art infrastructure that supports colocation and cloud services. It also demonstrates our company’s commitment to continue to invest in our hometown community.”
The IO development presents a first for factory-built modular data centers, with the facility custom-designed to support multi-story operations of modules. This approach enables IO to achieve greater scale within its physical footprint, accommodating more than 600 modules. IO will deploy BASELAYER’s indoor Core modular system controlled by BASELAYER RunSmart software. These modules are exceptionally energy efficient and provide 44% reduction in energy waste (19% energy cost savings).
