IO’s Bob Butler Awarded AFCEA North American Information Technology Leadership Award

IO, the leading provider of next-generation modular data center technology and services, announced today that Bob Butler, Vice President of Government Strategies at IO, was awarded the AFCEA Rocky Mountain Chapter’s prestigious North American IT Leadership Award for his work as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) for Cyber and Space Policy. This award recognizes an international leader who has made significant contributions to the advancement of information technology, command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, or reconnaissance in support of the security of the United States of America. An international award, it recognizes the strategic alliances between the United States, Canada, and Mexico, in the defense of North America.

“IO is proud to have one of our own executives recognized for this exceptional level of leadership,” said Ron Yaggi Senior Vice President of Government Programs, IO. “Bob’s contributions to the defense IT community further validate the future of IO as a company that can improve defense IT with the best solutions and the highest level of expertise.”

“This year’s selection committee considered many extraordinary nominations. It was an honor to present this year’s award to Mr. Butler, not only for his international awareness of C4ISR; support for homeland defense and space relevant to C4ISR; service to the Department of Defense but also his accomplishments in support of national defense,” said Chapter President, Colonel Philip Platt.

During his tenure as the DASD for Cyber Policy, Mr. Butler was responsible for providing insightful policy advice and support to the Secretary of Defense and other senior Department of Defense (DoD) leaders by formulating, recommending, integrating, and implementing policies and strategies to improve the nation’s Cyber and Space postures. This work encompassed DoD policy relating to requirements, capability development, operations, declaratory policy, employment, and international cooperation or agreements.

Nominations for the Leadership Award come from AFCEA chapters and companies across the country. The recipient must be a long-standing member of AFCEA with a record of sustained contributions to the Association, and possess exceptional leadership skills. His selection as the ninth recipient follows Lt Gen Bill Lord, Chief of Warfighting Integration and Chief Information Officer, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force.

Mr. Butler received this honor at the Defending America: CYBERSPACE 2012 Symposium, a forum for government and industry leaders to exchange information, technical advancements, and increase cooperation in supporting military preparedness in C4ISR domains.
